This course is for anyone from beginners to experienced music students. Boomwhackers are pitched percussion instruments that almost anyone can play with ease. Non-pitched percussion will also be employed as participants learn, practice, and improve rhythmic literacy while getting to play real music. Campers will play with sound and learn about rhythm in a setting where an inclination toward the good of others is elemental and where harmonious relationships (pun intended) are cultivated to integrate each participant into the performance of every piece of music. Practicing alone and in the summer can be kind of boring, right? MSPA presents a week for brass players to engage in an inviting setting to enjoy what makes your instrument so much fun, playing with other musicians! Maria Snow will facilitate a week of COVID-conscious brass ensemble music rehearsals with musicians of all skill levels where students will be motivated to put horn-to-face outside of school, improving fluency, technical skills, and overall musicianship in the process. The week will culminate in participation in a camp recital at the end of the week. In a world of diminishing performance opportunities for musicians, this is your chance to connect with other area brass musicians for a week of something out of the ordinary! Campers must have been enrolled in music instruction on a brass instrument for the 2020-2021 school year.
